What does "One Washington" mean to you?
We hear citizens of Washington often say that we are "One Washington" and that can mean different things to different people. As a community we are stronger when we are united and we want you to have the opportunity to express what "One Washington" means to you.
Here are the details: Write an essay, poem or create a work of art that expresses your vision of the words "One Washington." The work of art can be a drawing, painting, poster, sculpture, macaroni collage or anything you want to use! Prizes will be awarded in each age category.
Age 5-8 Essay must be at least 4 sentences
Age 9-13 Essay must be at least 3 paragraphs
Age 14-18 Essay must be a minimum of one full page
Age 18+ Essay must be a minimum of 350 words
First Prize in each age category for art submission is a $25 gift card to Blick Art Supply online store.
First prize in each age category for poetry or essay is a $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble.
First prize winners in each category will also be featured in the Washington Wilkes Informer online newspaper and Facebook and Instagram page.
Deadline for all submissions is November 10th at midnight. Submit essays, poems and photos of art projects via email to washingtongainformer@gmail.com and add "One Washington contest" as the subject. Be sure to add the following to the email:
Name, age (if under 18 also add parent or guardian name), phone number and contact email address.
